Pricing Groups

Vinosmith can lock Sales Reps to a sub-set of all Prices on any single Wine.

For instance, let's say you have Sales Reps on the West Coast and the East Coast. And assume that the price of the same wine is different in each market.

With Pricing Groups, you can create two groups, West and East. You then assign the West Coast pricing group to the Sales Reps on the West Coast, and ditto for the East.

As an administrator, you can create two prices for the exact wine and assign the price to the appropriate group.

During Order Entry, a Sales Rep can only see prices they have been granted access to. So, the West Coast sales reps could only see/use the West Coast prices. The same is true for the East Coast sales reps.

How to get started with Pricing Groups

The overall steps are:

  1. Create the Pricing Groups
  2. Assign each Sales Rep to one or more Pricing Groups
  3. Create the Prices attached to each Price Group
  4. Enable the enforcement of the feature

Please note: The logic is not enforced until Step 4 is accomplished. This means that you can proceed with Steps 1-3 to get the configuration in place, but it will not be enforced until it has been explicitly enabled in Step 4. If the feature is enabled and the setup has not been performed, then Sales Reps cannot see any prices.

Create the Pricing Groups

  • Go to My Account, click on Manage
  • From your management screen in the left navigation is a link to Manage Price Groups
  • Click on that link and proceed to create all of your Pricing Groups

*If using Vinosmith Marketplace, when configuring Price Groups, the "Region" field must match the Account's shipping state(s) for the price to display.

Assign Sales Reps to Pricing Groups

  • Go to My Account, click on Manage
  • From your management screen, scroll down to Members
  • Click through each Sales Rep (including your administrators) to grant them access to the needed Pricing Groups

Create the Prices attached to each Price Group

There are three ways to assign prices to Price Groups:

  1. During price creation/editing, you will see a series of checkboxes that assign the price to that group.
  2. Use the Price Import/Export flow. The file contains a Price Group column: you can comma-delimit price group names to assign a Price to a Group(s).
  3. Price Batch Actions - This provides a web-based method to quickly assign or remove a Price Group. This flow does not require using any Excel-based import method.

If a price does not have a price group assigned, Reps cannot see that price.

Enable the Enforcement

  • Go to My Account, click on Manage
  • From your management screen, click Edit on the left
  • Toggle the checkbox for Enforce User-based Pricing Groups.
