A Draft Order is an order set aside but treated as a real order.  When the Draft Order is created, the inventory is automatically reserved until the order is released to the Active Order queue.

From an Inventory perspective, there is no change, and all the current inventory modifications are made. A Draft Order is just not as front and center on the primary Active orders screen to minimize administrative confusion.

Admins can enable this feature by going to the My Account page and checking the Support for Draft Orders? under the Order Processing section.  Admins may also select the option to Auto-Expire Draft Orders and change the Draft Order Visibility. The default visibility is the Orders/Draft tab.

How are Draft Orders Created?

Start creating the order as usual and then check the Draft Order? box. That's it! Inventory is automatically deducted when the Submit Order button is clicked.

Administrators are not notified of Draft Orders.

Invoices and Pack Slips are not generated for Draft Orders.

Inventory for a Draft Order is taken out of the On-Hand inventory bucket.

Where do I see Draft Orders?

Depending on your company's settings, Draft Orders may only be displayed on the Orders page in the Draft tab.

Any time you want to activate a Draft Order and move it to the active Orders queue, click on the Release Draft button when viewing the Order.

This will move the Order to the Active Orders tab.

Do Draft Orders expire?

If your organization has enabled the auto-expiration Draft Orders, Vinosmith will email the user the day before the delivery day that their draft order will expire on the delivery day unless it is activated.  Inventory is restocked when the Draft Order is expired.

What orders are included under each tab?

The Orders tab is split into 3 sub-tabs. The data set for each tab is defined as:

Active: No changes. Hold, and Future orders are not included in this tab.

Future: Orders placed for a delivery date more than x number of days out (or depending on your company settings). If a Draft order is also a Future order, it is also included in this tab.

Draft:  Orders that are marked “Draft”.  Future orders are not included in this tab.
